Schon dreimal habe ich mit verschiedenen Gruppen an der dekolonialen Führung mit Justice im afrikanischen Viertel teilgenommen, habe jedes Mal selbst etwas dazugelernt und bin mit sehr positiven Eindrücken der Teilnehmenden nach Hause gegangen. Die Führung bietet einen guten Einstieg, um vertieftes Interesse und Austausch zur deutschen Kolonialgeschichte und ihren tiefen Spuren anzuregen. Im vergangenen September habe ich mit einer dieser Gruppen an der dekolonialen Führung mit Justice am/im Humboldtforum teilgenommen. Die Teilnehmenden konnten sich auch bei dieser Führung mit ihrem Vorwissen einbringen und erhielten Antworten auf alle ihre Fragen. Ausnahmslos allen hat die Führung gefallen und einige haben sie als ihr Highlight ihres einwöchigen Seminars bezeichnet. Das Thema kulturelle Aneignung wurde noch in den Tagen danach lebhaft diskutiert. Danke für eure tolle Arbeit! Wir kommen wieder!

Wir hatten als Gruppe eine eindrucksvolle Führung mit Justice, die als Guide flexibel und kenntnisreich auf unsere Fragen antwortete und die Tour damit ebenso lebendig wie interessant gestaltete. Wir hätten ihr noch stundenlang zuhören können! Sowohl für Gruppen, die sich dem Thema des deutschen Kolonialismus zum ersten Mal zuwenden, wie auch für solche, die bereits einiges darüber wissen, ist diese „bewegte“ Auseinandersetzung mit der Geschichte des Kolonialismus und seinen Folgen in der Gegenwart absolut empfehlenswert. Ich habe viel gelernt durch die Tour.
Das Thema macht auch betroffen bis hin zu dem Punkt, an dem man sich wünschte etwas an der Situation ändern zu können. Doch vielleicht ist es auch der erste Schritt in die richtige Richtung. Ich habe mich jedenfalls schon gefragt, warum das alles im Geschichtsunterricht keine Erwähnung findet.

This tour is a must for every visitor who is done with all the touristy places and wants to experience yet another part of Berlin that holds a lot of history.
We must understand the past to change the future. And there’s so much to be done, like finally change street names when they commemorate war criminals. Justice and her team are doing an important job, raising awareness. It’s a nice and interesting stroll!

Justice led a fascinating tour through a neighbourhood of Berlin I had previously not visited. This walk through the Afrikanisches Viertel exposes the remnants of German colonial history still present in 21st century Berlin, with the often forgotten history and sometimes shockingly named streets forming a large part of the tour’s content. For anyone interested in colonial history or discovering a part of Berlin not often visited by tourists, this tour will not disappoint. Highly recommended!

Excellent use of my time!
The tour managed to bring to light parts of the history of the German colonisation that are sadly not well enough known. It covered the suffering of the exploited, some of its most infamous actors, and the ongoing journey to remove the physical expressions of their glorification.
I was lucky to have the tour given to me by Justice, I really appreciated her knowledge, her brightness and the ability to keep the tour entertaining despite the bad weather :)
